Our Services

Picture framing can be mainly split into 3 elements, namely the production of the frame, the cutting of the mount and the cutting of the glass. When these 3 elements are complete, the parts are all combined and carefully contained into the final packaged frame. Enabling you to place that cherished piece of artwork on the wall.

At Picture Cards these different practices have been honed over many years, giving us the experience and ability to confidently give you advice on how best to frame your artwork. Every piece of artwork that comes in to our workshop is treated with care. From the handling, when discussing the possible framing options, the storing, to the manufacture of the frame.

You can be confident that the artwork you bring in to our studio will be given a lot of thought and careful consideration. There are many options to frame a picture and we can help you choose the right one.

Framing

We offer many traditional and contemporary frames in a variety of styles, ranging from antique gold to cool contemporary greys. With over 30 different frames to choose from there is indeed a frame for everyone.

When it comes to box frames, we stock a range of mouldings that are perfect for this style of framing. Combining with spacers ranging from 6mm to 18mm, we can create the box look for your artwork that creates a space between a 3 dimensional piece of artwork and the glass.

Also, if you have a canvas that needs a traditional deep frame, our box frames are a great solution to do this.

Mounting

If a standard white or cream colour mountboard isn't your thing, we stock a variety of colour mounts that can enhance your artwork. When deciding on a strong mountboard colour, an added option could be to combine it with a lighter shade to create a double mount for your artwork.

The iced white and lighter shades we supply are conservation, acid-free types supplied by established manufacturers such as Colourmount. The majority of the mountboards we stock have a slight texture to give a more 3 dimensional look.

Another option if you want to show more than one piece of artwork in one frame, is to have a multiple aperture mount, carefully designed, drawn out and cut to specification.

If it's just a mount or a number of mounts you require, then we can cut one to the size specified by you. With the equipment in the studio the maximum mount size we can safely cut is 914mm or 36 inches.

Glazing

We provide 2mm float glass as standard in our framing service. This will keep the total price as low as possible. We do provide alternatives to the standard float glass, such as glass with UV protection and glass with anti glare protection. These types of glass are premium options and have to be ordered in specially.

Another alternative to standard glass is using acrylic or styrene. This is useful when you are framing a picture that is being placed in a child’s room or nursery. This can also be used when the combined weight of the frame needs to be reduced as it is a lighter option to glass.

If you have a picture that has fallen off the wall and the glass has smashed, we can replace the broken glass. You can either take the glass away with you to put the frame back together yourself or we can reassemble it in the studio for you. As well as reassemble, we will also give the frame a clean and check to make sure the artwork is fine and looking its best.

Please Note
As our framing service is on display at all times, for safety reasons and small workspace area, we have a policy that the maximum size of frame we make is 3ft by 2ft in dimension. This means that the maximum size of glass we handle is 3ft by 2ft and so the dimension of any picture, including mount size must be within that size.

“I have used Picture Cards Framing on many occasions and would recommend them without hesitation. They are very sympathetic to the pictures they frame and always make sure I am consulted over the choice of framing. They also provide a very quick service at a very reasonable cost.”
