About Picture Cards

Picture Cards was started in 1999 by Bob Haverly. The name was derived from the displaying of cigarette cards that Bob used to frame when he first started the business. As the business grew he started framing artwork for the local artist Kathy Lewis as she had a unit on the Taurus Crafts site. As more work from the public started coming in, his daughter Beth started to help out with the framing and general framing tasks.

Around 2011, Beth's partner Richard, who was working as a freelance graphic designer, started to work in the studio 2 days a week, learning the art of picture framing. An unexpected and tragic event occurred in 2013 when Bob passed away. This event along with work changes in the freelance graphic design business for Richard, meant that he started to run the studio full time in early 2018.

Gallery

With Kathy Lewis selling artwork in the studio, slowly over time a few more artist have work on display and in browsers. Paul Burgess, Gerald Thornton and Warren Day have artwork in the studio and Pat Homewood has a range of greetings cards on sale. Each of the artists on show has their own web page on the site so you can get an idea of the style of work they produce.

Unfortunately we don't sale their work online and we are unable to show all of their work on this website. Please visit us at Taurus Crafts to see what we have in stock or you can contact us by filling out the contact form. Here you will also see our opening times.

Workshop

We have an open workshop policy so you can see us at work when you pop in and visit. Please bear in mind there are a lot of sharp objects in the workshop so please be aware of this if there are small children with you.

With the workspace area being limited, we have a policy in place that the maximum frame size we can produce is 3ft by 2ft, as this is the size of glass we stock. This includes the mountboard margin size, so this has to be taken into account when deciding on the picture aperture of the artwork.

“It's always a pleasure to do business with Picture Cards, where you're met with a friendly smile along with a competent and professional service.

As an Artist, I have used their framing service for a long time now and never hesitate to recommended them to friends and colleagues, confident in the knowledge that they will receive reliable help and advice and quality frames at competitive prices.

They also offer a great range of prints, often inspired by the natural beauty of the surrounding area and showcasing the best of local talent. All of a high standard and definitely worth a look.”
